The symbol

The Demon of the Heavenly Son is the fourth of the four maras: the god-like pleasures and distractions that tempt even the gods and keep them from the path. It is the subtlest of the four, because what it offers looks good.

The two throws

The Demon of the Heavenly Son comes up when the first throw of the die shows NA (earth) and the second shows RA (fire).

ན
First: NA · Earth

NA is the syllable of earth. It stands for what is solid and lasting: land, home, property, the body and slow, steady increase.

ར
Second: RA · Fire

RA is the syllable of fire. It brings energy, warmth, light and the power to make things happen, and with them the risks of fire: haste, anger and burning out.
