The symbol

In Tibetan art the sun disc often sits under a deity's lotus seat, paired with the moon. Its rays stand for energy that reaches everything and for activity that cannot be hidden. Here the sun's rays shine across open space, so energy spreads freely, and so can its heat.

The two throws

The Flaming Rays of the Sun comes up when the first throw of the die shows A (space) and the second shows RA (fire).

ཨ
First: A · Space

A is the first sound of every alphabet and the syllable of open space. It stands for what is wide, clear and not yet filled: room to move, a fresh start, nothing in the way.

ར
Second: RA · Fire

RA is the syllable of fire. It brings energy, warmth, light and the power to make things happen, and with them the risks of fire: haste, anger and burning out.
