Below are a few experiments and side projets of mine.
I am passionate about model-driven architecture (usually found in no-code/low-code platforms, code generators, and complex data visualizations), and more specifically model-driven UIs.
Working on a model-driven project is basically doing the automation of my own work. I find it especially rewarding because it helps me better understand structures and patterns in UX, in code, and in my own thinking.
Naturally, for many years, my biggest side project was a model-driven framework (front and back ends) to build applications with models rather than code. It generates all UI views (list, cards, edit, browse, dashboard...) and API end-points to display and mutate objects of different data structures based on a single model. I called it Evolutility, which in Biology, means "the ability to change form, volume, and structure as a result of nutrition". TLTR, my thoughts on the topic.
My favorite quote about programming is:
"Smart data structures and dumb code works a lot better than the other way around." - Eric S. Raymond.
I like to look at fractals (where Math becomes visual art).
I also like visual art made by humans... and it often contains fractals or the golden ratio.
For a while I was growing a handlebar mustache to simply look like an artist.
My favorite game is the game of Go. I mostly play online against AIs. With very few rules, and a lot of possible moves each turn, Go is more of an art than a calculation game (which made it the textbook challenge of computer science until AlphaGo). Also, because you can win by "building" more territory than your opponent, it doesn't have to be as aggressive as Chess.
I'm learning to make cannelés. My first batches already taste really good, but it may take a few more trials before I can get them perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's quite a challenge.
I like to read and collect graphic novels, mostly sci-fi and fantasy, usually in French.
... and sometimes in English.
I like to watch sci-fi movies and anime but I do not own a TV.
Of course, I also enjoy French movies.
I like to meditate. It keeps me sane.
